Digital partners that understands your business.
Sonderence designs digital ecosystems around the way a business actually works — as an embedded partner, not an outside vendor.
We map what's there.
Before proposing solutions, we study how the business actually operates. We examine workflows, systems, data, decisions, and the people behind them to understand the current operating reality before forming conclusions.
The map of your operation is the first deliverable. It takes one conversation to start.

Processes should work for the business, within the business — not the other way around.
Most organizations don't suffer from a lack of technology. They suffer from fragmented systems, disconnected processes, and operations that have outgrown the way they work. We identify the underlying constraint so every recommendation addresses the cause rather than the symptoms.
We name your constraint in the free Foundation assessment — before any engagement is proposed.
Evidence before action.
Every recommendation begins as a hypothesis grounded in evidence, not assumption. By combining research, operational data, and first-principles reasoning, we develop a testable understanding of what is most likely to create meaningful improvement before implementation begins.
We begin with the business.
Our methodology combines systems thinking, ontological analysis, and close collaboration to redesign how the business operates. Technology becomes an instrument of the operating model, not its foundation — so every implementation serves a measurable business objective.

The framework we use.
Every engagement begins with Foundation — a free digital transformation assessment — and grows from there.
Sonderence Foundation
A digital transformation assessment. The starting point for every engagement, and the stage where analysis and diagnosis are made real.
Develops a research-backed strategic framework that defines priorities, opportunities, and a practical transformation roadmap.
Designs the data and knowledge architecture that enables information to move reliably across the organization.
Implements integrated systems and workflows that connect people, software, and operations into a unified whole.
Builds custom digital products, platforms, and experiences designed around your operating model rather than generic software tools.
Provides ongoing measurement, optimization, and strategic guidance as the business continues to evolve.
Measured by what changes.
Four outcomes we hold ourselves to be able to provide to our clients.
Operational clarity
Teams gain visibility into how work flows across the organization, making better decisions with less friction.
Connected systems
Disconnected tools become integrated workflows that reduce manual effort and improve reliability.
Scalable operations
Processes are designed to grow alongside the business without introducing unnecessary complexity.
Technology with purpose
Every implementation is tied to a measurable business objective instead of adopting technology for its own sake.
Which of these four your business needs first is the question the digital transformation assessment answers.
We adjust as evidence emerges.
Transformation is an ongoing process rather than a one-time implementation. We continuously measure outcomes, reassess constraints, and refine systems as the business evolves, so every improvement stays aligned with changing objectives.
Every engagement starts at the same place. Book the assessment and we will show you the first loop.
Book a discovery callAn embedded partner.
Sonderence is a digital transformation consulting and development firm that helps organizations design better ways of operating. We work as an embedded partner — combining strategy, systems design, and implementation — to solve operational constraints and create lasting organizational capability rather than one-off technical solutions.
Begin with the business.
Understand the operating reality before recommending the technology.
Design for the whole system.
Technology choices should resolve constraints, not introduce new ones.
Make the complex legible.
Use evidence, precision, and restraint to create forward motion.
If that is how you want to work, the next step is a conversation.
Book a discovery callWhat people ask before they start.
If your question isn't here, ask it on the call. We answer plainly, including when the answer is no.
Neither on its own. We design the operating system a business runs on and then build it — strategy, systems design and implementation in the same engagement. We do not resell software, and we are not tied to a platform. Where an off-the-shelf tool is the right answer, we will say so and configure it rather than build around it.
It depends on the constraint, so we scope it before we quote it. Every engagement opens with an analysis and diagnosis phase that produces a written scope of work: phases, deliverables, dependencies and total investment. You decide whether to continue with that document in hand. Nothing is open-ended and nothing is billed against a moving target.
Usually not. Most of what we find is not a bad tool but an unclear process running across three of them. We map what you have, keep what earns its place, and replace only where a system is the actual constraint. A rip-and-replace recommendation has to justify itself against the cost of the disruption.
You own it. Documentation, process maps, configurations and access sit with your team, and we train the people who will run it before the engagement closes. The measure of the work is whether your organization can operate and extend the system without us.
Size matters less than whether you have outgrown the way you work. We work with growing businesses, public sector programs and the small firms inside them — including cohort companies in the City of Sacramento's Economic Gardening 2.0 program. If the engagement is not the right use of your money, we will tell you on the first call.
